Full disclosure: I attempted to get this idea off the ground almost a year ago. Check this old post out just to prove that this isn’t all just on a whim 😉

If it isn’t clear at this point, I really really like music.

It has carried me through some of the toughest times in my life, and now I’m FINALLY trying to make it an integral part of my career.

If you haven’t read my last post, I have decided to start trying my hand at DJing for various types of yoga and fitness classes, so that’s on the horizon. Read the post to find out why.

More immediately though, in this post, I’m going reveal what is basically the beginning of mine and Lauren’s long term plans as a yoga power couple 😉

The Goal

We want to bring yoga to people in a healing way, and for me, that involves creating an immersive experience that is unique to the average yoga class.

This includes live music performance (I’ve got a whole guitar setup that is growing by the week, and I’m playing for classes more and more often). It also includes DJing for other teachers (especially Lauren)

I also recently began teaching spin classes at the Old Town Hot Springs which really allows me to dive into my music geek, mixtape-junkie side. I’ll start posting some of those playlists on the site soon as well since they could help to propel you through workouts. (I’m making one as I write this post in, fact.)

The Future

We want to travel, teach and bring this experience to people all over the country. There it is– writing it makes it real.

Lauren is finishing her yoga therapy certification, I’m all over the place getting ready to become a counselor. This is the start of something really cool.

Anyway, over the course of this week, I’ll be releasing a series of posts about music, and how it applies to your yoga and fitness practice. These are very personal posts for me, but hopefully, they resonate with you guys as well. Thanks for reading and being part of both of us living our dream.

In the meantime, you can find my full class schedule by clicking here, but most notably, we will be launching a Tuesday 6pm Yin session at Rakta Hot Yoga where we will combine forces, and do exactly what I outlined above: I’ll play music and she’ll teach class.

Please feel free to chime in on the comments below, follow me on instagram @the_real_everymanyoga, and follow Lauren at @yoga_lo.

Namaste.
