This is a little mini-post that will segue into a bigger element of the overall concept of EveryMan Yoga. Music has played a huge role in my life. Like an old friend, it has never let me down when I need a boost during a workout, when I need an artistic outlet, or when I need a shoulder to cry on.
This post will explain why I’m putting up several more posts about music in the coming weeks.
Music & Yoga: Why I’m writing this post
I won’t get too detailed here, but I have just completed several posts about different aspects of music and how they relate to yoga and my view of the world.
In the second of the three, I will discuss my purpose in including music as a bigger part of this site.
However, I wanted to share a goal with you guys.
Creating goals is an awesome part of your yoga practice and life, and having some accountability is a big incentive to not screw it up. I’m the king of overshooting my goals or totally dropping the ball, but this is one that I have been living with for a while:
I want to actually, finally be a musician. And I want to tie it into yoga through guitar performance and live DJing for classes.
This is all part of my grand scheme to make the most of my time on earth by actually doing the things that I love. As far as I’m concerned, I could get a cancer diagnosis next week.
Why wait?
I want to do the stuff I love before it’s too late. I actually have a music degree, so why not use it?
If you’ve read this blog or searched around it at any length, you’ll notice that I’ve mentioned stuff about music here or there.
When I started it, one of my goals was to make music integral to what I’m doing by posting playlists from my classes or even my own music.
But I never did it.
Consider this little series as an introduction to a new element of EveryMan Yoga.
Yoga to me is living a lifestyle that involves healthy movement, meditation, and creativity. This is my journey into the creative part.
All of these goals are being tied together in my jumbled mess of a brain at this very minute. However, by putting this out into the universe as a real, attainable goal, I am implementing my own accountability to you.
I want to help people in the best way I know how– through the beauty of music and the energy of movement. So might as well give it a go, eh?
Thanks for reading, your support, and your feedback. Much love.
